broken 是動詞 break 的過去分詞。過去分詞經常拿來當作帶有「被動」或「完成」意味的形容詞使用，broken pieces 碎片。對等連接詞 "and" 連接兩個獨立子句:The mirror slipped out of the little girl’s hand. 和 the broken pieces scattered all over the floor. "and" 通常用來連接前後類似的語義；或表示結果的含意 — 因鏡子滑掉，而碎片落滿地。
