For many years, people thought the of smoking were to smokers. But new studies have found that smoke from cigarettes can be to non-smokers too.
In December 1987, a U.S. Government report that non-smokers could risk getting lung cancer from in other people's cigarette smoke.
Another study looked at non-smoking athletes who had smoking parents or friends. Being cigarette smoke hurt the athletes' lungs, and made them more than athletes who did not have smokers close , the study said. Studies like these have promoted the banning of smoking in places.
